Wockhardt Hospitals Launches Patient Safety Week to Enhance Emergency Response and Medication Safety

Wockhardt Group Hospitals has launched its annual Patient Safety Week, a dedicated campaign aimed at reinforcing critical healthcare safety measures, including the role of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs), the careful handling of High Alert Medications, and the importance of Medication Reconciliation. The initiative, spanning all Wockhardt Hospital locations—Mumbai Central, Mira Road, Nagpur, and Rajkot—seeks to enhance awareness and implementation of essential patient safety protocols among healthcare professionals.

The week-long campaign is designed to equip doctors, nurses, support staff, and medical administrators with the necessary expertise to handle medical emergencies efficiently and ensure the safe administration of critical medications. Through various interactive and educational activities, the initiative aims to bolster preparedness and patient care across all facilities. The campaign includes engaging events such as a slogan writing competition, where staff will create impactful messages on patient safety, and a quiz competition to test their knowledge on key safety protocols related to RRTs and High Alert Medications. Additionally, workshops and team-building activities will be held to encourage collaboration and provide practical training in emergency response and medication safety.

Ms. Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director of Wockhardt Hospitals, emphasized the hospital group’s unwavering commitment to patient safety. She stated that patient safety is at the core of everything they do at Wockhardt, and this initiative is not just about educating staff, but also about strengthening their ability to respond to critical situations with precision and confidence. She further affirmed that Patient Safety Week reaffirms their dedication to delivering the highest quality of care.

Dr. Clive Fernandes, Group Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer of Wockhardt Hospitals, highlighted the significance of continuous training in maintaining safety standards. He explained that patient safety at Wockhardt Hospitals is not just a priority but a commitment that is periodically renewed through various activities. He added that their initiatives, including lectures, quizzes, GEMBA walks, and hands-on training at nursing stations and patient bedsides, ensure that all associates remain updated with the latest safety protocols.

According to him, this consistent focus on training and education fosters an environment where patient safety is always the top priority, reinforcing their belief that at Wockhardt Hospitals, Life Wins.

The initiative’s comprehensive approach encompasses interactive workshops, team-building exercises, and educational events that aim to foster a culture of heightened awareness and proactive patient care. By continually reinforcing safety protocols and preparedness strategies, Wockhardt Hospitals reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and safety across all its locations.

With Patient Safety Week, the hospital underscores its mission to provide exceptional and secure healthcare services, ensuring that both medical professionals and patients benefit from a safer, more efficient healthcare environment.
