Indian Company Sets World Record in Kidney Health Screening Initiative

Asia's largest dialysis care network, NephroPlus, has set a Guinness World Record for "most people signing up for a kidney health assessment online in one week." Between March 6th and 11th, 2025, a total of 10,501 persons registered for the test, representing a remarkable feat in public health awareness.

The initiative, launched under the slogan ‘Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early and Protect Kidney Health,’ was designed to emphasize the importance of early detection in preventing kidney disease. The campaign received an overwhelming response from participants, particularly targeting individuals at high risk, including those with diabetes and hypertension. Major cities covered in the campaign included Bengaluru, Delhi, Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Ranchi, among others.

As part of the initiative, NephroPlus conducted a groundbreaking study on chronic kidney disease, often known as irreversible kidney damage. We will use the substantial offline data from these screenings to publish a global white paper and a manuscript in a reputable academic publication. This is projected to be the first global white paper on CKD prevention, representing a significant achievement in kidney health research.

‘Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early and Protect Kidney Health,’

Pointing out the importance of this achievement, Vikram Vuppala, the group CEO and founder of NephroPlus, said, "This outstanding achievement demonstrates our constant dedication to increasing awareness about kidney health in a country where CKD prevalence varies from 12% to 21% among areas. Many instances go misdiagnosed until late stages, emphasising the importance of large-scale, preventive health measures."

"The introduction of our research on CKD prevention is a revolutionary step," he added futher stating that governments around the world must recognise that CKD prevention is more than a health programme; it is a strategic economic investment.

The next CKD White Paper will discuss why governments should prioritise kidney disease prevention as both a public health campaign and a long-term economic plan. Early detection and intervention can help millions of individuals save money on healthcare, avoid productivity loss, and improve their overall quality of life. By establishing this standard, NephroPlus strengthens its position as a pioneer in kidney health innovation and preventative care.

Following this victory, NephroPlus announced in a statement that it will continue to increase awareness about kidney health. The screening initiative's findings will inform future research, lobbying, and policy discussions, providing improved access to early diagnosis and preventive care throughout India.

NephroPlus's Guinness World Records success not only emphasises the importance of preventive healthcare but also establishes a pattern for large-scale health awareness efforts. With CKD becoming a rising global concern, programs like these are critical for reducing the burden of chronic diseases and improving public health outcomes.
