Over 1.76 Lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs Operational Across India, Wellness Activities on the Rise
In a significant stride toward strengthening preventive healthcare and early detection, the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, informed the Rajya Sabha that a total of 1,76,573 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) have been made operational across the country as of February 2025.
The update, based on data reported by States and Union Territories on the Ayushman Arogya Mandir portal, reflects the growing network of primary health facilities aimed at enhancing community health. According to the portal, over 107 crore hypertension screenings and nearly 95 crore diabetes screenings have been carried out at these centers, underscoring their critical role in early diagnosis and disease prevention.
Beyond medical screenings, AAMs are also promoting wellness through holistic health activities. Yoga, cycling, and meditation sessions have become integral parts of these centers. As of February 28, 2025, more than 5 crore wellness sessions, including yoga programs, have been conducted at AAMs, reflecting the government’s emphasis on preventive care and mental well-being.
The initiative aligns with India’s vision of building a robust healthcare infrastructure that not only treats illness but also fosters a culture of health and fitness at the community level.
