IMA East Delhi Branch Hosts Special Talk on 'Garbha Sanskar' to Mark World Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Indian Medical Association - East Delhi Branch (IMA-EDB) organized a special talk on the theme 'Garbha Sanskar'—a traditional Indian practice aimed at the holistic development of the unborn child. The event aimed to educate expectant mothers, through the guidance of gynecologists, on how to nurture the baby’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being right from the womb.

Experts including Dr. Sucharita Jain, Dr. Rajni Mittal, and Dr. Preeti elaborated on the scientific and cultural significance of Garbha Sanskar, highlighting its role in shaping a child’s future health and values during pregnancy.

Applauding the initiative, Dr. Radha Jain, President of IMA-EDB, remarked,
"Garbha Sanskar is a priceless legacy of Indian culture, which remains deeply relevant even today. It forms the foundation of a child’s all-round development. We must integrate these ancient practices with modern medicine for the betterment of future generations."

Dr. Mamta Thakur, Secretary of IMA-EDB, emphasized the long-term impact of prenatal nurturing, stating,
"Garbha Sanskar is essential because it lays the foundation of future generations while the child is still in the womb. Values, health, thought processes, and personality start taking shape during pregnancy. As a doctor and social worker, I firmly believe that with awareness and proper guidance, we can build a stronger and more cultured India."

The event saw participation from several prominent gynecologists and pediatricians, including Dr. Ajay Lekhi, Dr. Neelam Lekhi, Dr. Piyush Jain, Dr. Shama Batra, Dr. Preeti Gaurav, Dr. Lalan Bharti, and Dr. Vandana Gupta, who collectively appreciated IMA-EDB's efforts.

The program concluded with a shared message from all present: that through such awareness initiatives, the vision of a healthy, value-driven, and globally influential India can be realized.
