In a significant move towards strengthening India’s footprint in the global diagnostic industry, Canada-headquartered T&D Diagnostics has announced a strategic manufacturing partnership with Genenest, a biotechnology company based in Noida.

The collaboration marks a key step in bringing more of T&D’s production to India, with Genenest becoming the exclusive Indian manufacturer of the popular STRAKWERT FIA diagnostic kits. 

The first diagnostic kit under this tie-up rolled off the production line on March 3, 2025, and was ceremoniously handed over by Mr. Nitin Gupta, Co-Founder of Genenest, to Mr. Manish Varma, CEO of T&D Diagnostics. 

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nitin Gupta highlighted Genenest’s ambitions to position India as a competitive manufacturing base for high-tech diagnostics.

“We aim to attract contract manufacturing from regions like North America and Western Europe, where costs are high. This not only boosts local employment but also helps India emerge as a strong global player in biotechnology and diagnostics,” he said. 

Mr. Manish Varma, who leads T&D Diagnostics’ operations across Canada, India, and Europe, shared a broader vision of making India a central hub for international markets, especially in Asia.

“We are looking to manufacture IVD (in-vitro diagnostic) kits in India that can be exported globally, subject to regulatory approvals. The goal is to create a strong global supply chain with uniform quality standards,” he said. 

Mr. Varma emphasized the importance of building what he called “economic moats” — unique advantages that protect and strengthen a business over time.

“A global diagnostic company today must have decentralized operations to avoid supply chain disruptions like we witnessed during COVID-19. Multinational manufacturing and distribution hubs allow for seamless delivery while maintaining consistent quality. This consistency builds strong brand equity in the long run,” he added. 

With this partnership, T&D Diagnostics and Genenest not only aim to deliver cost-effective and high-quality diagnostics in India but also take a major step forward in transforming India into a global manufacturing hub for healthcare technology.
