Delhi LG Launches India’s First Ultra-Fast AI-Powered MRI Scanner

Rohit Shishodia  In a landmark moment for Indian healthcare, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated Mahajan Imaging & Labs’ brand-new diagnostic centre in Dwarka today, bringing with it a revolutionary leap in medical imaging.

Nestled within the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sector 13, the new facility doesn’t just expand access to high-quality diagnostics in Southwest Delhi—it also marks the debut of India’s first ultra-fast, AI-powered MRI scanner: the Excel 3T.  Described as a game-changer in imaging, the Excel 3T MRI dramatically cuts scan times while producing clearer, sharper images, especially for complex procedures like cardiac MRI.

Where such scans once took more than an hour, they can now be completed in nearly half the time.   The technology blends AI-driven features such as real-time motion correction and contactless respiratory tracking, making scans more comfortable for children, seniors, and patients who experience anxiety or claustrophobia.

The immersive experience and intelligent automation embedded into the system help ensure that even the most advanced scans feel less intimidating and more humane.

Addressing the gathering, LG Saxena applauded the centre’s patient-centric vision and technological leadership.   “This centre showcases the future of healthcare,” he said.

“It makes me proud that Delhi is leading the way in hosting such high-end innovations. With the growing burden of non-communicable diseases, especially cardiac illnesses, we need both public and private players to come together. The government is upgrading its hospitals, and we welcome collaborations like this that bring world-class care closer to our people.”

The new Dwarka facility brings together the full spectrum of diagnostics—imaging, pathology, and genetic testing—under one thoughtfully designed roof. Every detail, from the sustainable building materials to the calming colour palette and energy-efficient systems, has been chosen with patient comfort and environmental consciousness in mind.

For Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder and Chairman of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, this centre is the result of years of listening, learning, and innovating.   “We didn’t just want to bring the latest tech—we wanted to change how diagnostics feel,” he explained. “From the moment a patient walks in, we want them to feel at ease. The environment, the technology, the staff—everything is focused on comfort, clarity, and care. We are redefining diagnostics not just with precision, but with empathy.”  One of the biggest clinical breakthroughs the new centre offers is in cardiac MRI, a diagnostic tool whose use is expanding rapidly in India as awareness grows around its potential.

Traditionally, these scans have been long and uncomfortable. But as Dr. Mahajan pointed out, the Excel 3T makes them faster, more accurate, and much easier on the patient, thanks to AI-powered acceleration techniques.

The result? Better diagnosis, better compliance, and ultimately, better health outcomes.  The urgency for such advancements is clear. According to the World Health Organization, 63% of all deaths in India are caused by non-communicable diseases, with heart disease alone responsible for 27%.

Alarmingly, cardiovascular conditions strike Indians nearly a decade earlier than in the West, often with more severe consequences. In a city like Delhi, where fast-paced lifestyles and health risks go hand in hand, early detection and accessible diagnostics have never been more vital.

Kabir Mahajan, Chief Operating Officer of Mahajan Imaging, highlighted the broader mission driving the expansion. “With the Dwarka centre, we’re not just launching a new facility—we’re creating a connected, community-based diagnostic ecosystem,” he said.

“We’ve built a strong network of neighbourhood clinics and collection points to ensure faster processing and reporting. Our focus is always on what works best for the patient—convenience, accuracy, and a sense of comfort from start to finish.”  He also shared a glimpse into Mahajan Imaging’s future vision—one that blends high-end radiology with genomics and lab medicine to lead the charge in preventive healthcare.

The goal is to move beyond diagnosing illness to helping prevent it entirely.  Inside the Dwarka centre, innovation runs deep.

Alongside the Excel 3T MRI, the facility is equipped with a 128-slice cardiac CT scanner, Full Field Digital Mammography, 3D/4D ultrasound systems powered by AI, digital X-ray, DEXA scans for bone health, and tools for cardiac and lung function testing. Each piece of equipment has been chosen not just for its technological strength but for how it contributes to faster, smarter, and more accessible care.

With this bold expansion, Mahajan Imaging & Labs is not just enhancing its presence in the capital—it’s setting a new benchmark for diagnostics across India. By blending cutting-edge technology with heartfelt care and sustainable design, the Dwarka centre offers a glimpse into the future of healthcare: smarter, faster, and above all, more human.
