TISSUE TYPE PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR
It has been obtained from cultured human melanoma cells and attempts are being made to synthesize it through biotechnology. It selectively activates gel phase plasminogen that is bound to fibrin. It use can avoid bleeding which occurs with streptokinase & urokinase due to simultaneous activation of soluble plasminogen.Lysis of suspected occlusive coronary artery thrombi associated with evolving transmural MI in adults
100 mg i.v. over 3 hrs to be admin. under close supervision in hospitals only.
Hypertension with possible cerebrovascular haemorrhage. Ulcerative colitis, subacute bacterial endocarditis. G.I. bleeding. Recent haemorrhage. Acute pancreatitis or hepatic disease, recent trauma.
Diabetes mellitus, proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Hepatic & renal impairment, recent surgery or invasive procedures. Paediatrics:Safety and effectiveness not established. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Lactation: Use only, if clearly indicated. Elderly: Use with caution.
Nausea, vomiting, headache, rash pruritus, Intra cerebral haemorrhage, G.I. & genito urinary bleeding
Increased risk of G.I. bleeding with NSAIDs, heparin reduces risk of coronary reocclusion.
