Tripelennamine Hcl

Tripelennamine HCl is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes. It is also used to treat symptoms of hay fever and other allergic conditions.

Indications

-Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) -Allergic conjunctivitis -Urticaria (hives) -Allergic skin conditions


Dosage

The dosage of Tripelennamine HCl can vary based on the condition being treated and the patient's age. Typically: -Adults: 25 mg every 4-6 hours as needed, not to exceed 150 mg per day. -Children (6-12 years): 12.5 mg every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 75 mg per day.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Tripelennamine or any component of the formulation -Acute asthma or respiratory conditions -Severe liver disease -Newborns and infants (due to risk of severe side effects)


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or urinary retention. -May cause drowsiness; caution advised when driving or operating machinery. -Monitor for potential anticholinergic effects, especially in elderly patients. -Avoid use with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants.

Drug Interactions
