ACACIA CATECHU

It is also known as Khadira or Kath and is traditionally used as a mouthwash to treat oral infection and dental problems. It exhibits anti-microbial, antidiarrheal, antinociceptive, antihyperlipidemic, antiviral, antiulcer, antioxidant, antidiabetic, antiproliferative, haemolytic and anti-inflammatory.

Indications

Diarrhoea, sore throats, cough, asthma, leucorrhoea, leprosy , arthritis,colitis, dysentery, gingivitis, and dental problems.

Dosage

Average dose for khadira powder is 1-3 grams, the dose for decoction is 50-100 ml, average dose for khadira extract is 0.5-1 gram.

Contra-Indications

Hypotension, and kidney disorders.

Special Precautions

Consult a Physician before using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side Effects

Rashes, itching, swelling in nose, throat, colon, and constipation.

Drug Interactions

Antihypertensive drugs, theophylline and immunosuppressants.
