Acyclovir
It has been discussed in the chapter of Chemotherapeutic/antibiotics under subheading anti virals.Infections of skin caused by Herpes simplex virus. This includes initial and recurrent genital herpes and herpes labialis.
Apply 5 times a day app at 4 hrly interval for 5 days. For another 5 days if required.
Hypersensitivity to Acyclovir.
Not for buccal or vaginal mucous membranes. A care is necessary to avoid accidental introduction into eye. Poor renal functions. Pregnancy, lactation.
Local irritation, transient burning.
Probenecid decreasesurinary excretion and increase half life.
