Amaltas

Amaltas is also known as cassia fistula. As per Ayurveda it exhibits hepatoprotective, antipyretic, cardioprotective carminative antioxidant, antitussive, antimicrobial, gastroprotective, antiulcer, anti-inflammatory, laxative, antidiabetic, and antitumor activities. It helps to maintain tridosha.

Indications

Constipation, loss of appetite, gout, piles, acidity, arthritis, ulcer, diabetes, sore throat, eczema, ringworm infections, cold, and cough.


Dosage

The standard dose for amaltas powder or churna is 5-10 grams, and the dose for decoction is 50-100 ml.


Contra-Indications

Allergic reaction.


Special Precautions

It is not recommended to use amaltas during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Gastrointestinal discomfort, pain, vomiting , nausea, and fatigue.
