Anjeer

Fig is known as Anjeer in India. It has anti-diabetic, antifungal, anti-tumour antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, anthelmintic, antispasmodic diuretic as well as hepatoprotective, gastroprotective, cardioprotective and emollient properties. It helps to boost the immune system. According to the Ayurvedic system of medicine, fig helps to balance tridosha.

Indications

Indition, loss of appetite, piles, diabetes, insomnia, tuberculosis (TB), anaemia, cancer, ringworm infection, leucoderma, dermatitis, constipation, hypertension and other cardiac conditions.


Dosage

The standard dose for Anjeer juice is 10-20 ml, dose for paste is 5-10ml. The average dose for fruit is 2 to 4 pieces in a day.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, hypotension ( low blood pressure) and hypoglycemia( low blood sugar).


Special Precautions

Overuse of anjeer may cause toxicity.


Side Effects

Allergic reactions ( rash, itching, fever, redness, and inflammation), fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness, indigestion, diarrhoea, hypotension, and hypoglycemia.


Drug Interactions

Antidiabetic agents, and antiplatelet drugs.
