BENZYL PEROXIDE

Benzyl Peroxide is a topical medication commonly used in the treatment of acne. It works by reducing the number of acne-causing bacteria and by helping to clear out pores.

Indications

-Acne vulgaris (both mild and moderate cases) -Acne lesions including papules, pustules, and comedones


Dosage

Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Start with a lower concentration and gradually increase as tolerated.


Contra-Indications

-Known hypersensitivity or allergy to Benzyl Peroxide or any of its components. -Avoid use in individuals with severe eczema or other skin conditions that may be irritated by the medication.


Special Precautions

-Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. -Use sunscreen or avoid excessive sun exposure, as Benzyl Peroxide can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. -Avoid using other acne treatments or harsh skin products simultaneously, as this may increase irritation.


Side Effects

-Dryness or peeling of the skin -Redness or irritation -Itching or burning sensation -Rarely, allergic reactions may occur (e.g., rash, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing)


Drug Interactions

-Avoid combining with other topical acne treatments or products that may cause skin irritation. -Inform your healthcare provider of all other medications and topical treatments you are using.
