Bromhexine, Terbutaline, Guaiphenesin
Bromhexine, Terbutaline, and Guaiphenesin are combined in a single formulation used for the relief of cough and respiratory conditions associated with bronchospasm and mucus production. -Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent that thins and loosens mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. -Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that helps to relieve bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). -Guaiphenesin is an expectorant that helps to loosen and clear mucus from the airways.-Cough associated with bronchospasm -Acute and chronic bronchitis -Asthma -Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) -Other respiratory conditions involving excessive mucus production
-Adults and children over 12 years: Typically, one to two teaspoons (5-10 ml) taken orally three times daily. -Children 6 to 12 years: One teaspoon (5 ml) taken orally three times daily. -Children 2 to 6 years: Half a teaspoon (2.5 ml) taken orally three times daily. -Hypersensitivity to Bromhexine, Terbutaline, Guaiphenesin, or any other component of the formulation. -Severe hypertension -Severe coronary artery disease -Hyperthyroidism -Patients with a history of peptic ulcer (due to potential gastric irritation by Guaiphenesin)
-Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, and seizure disorders. -Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity reactions. -Should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. -Caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
-Nausea -Vomiting -Diarrhea -Headache -Dizziness -Tremors -Palpitations -Hypokalemia -Allergic reactions (rash, itching, difficulty breathing)
-Beta-blockers may antagonize the effects of Terbutaline. -Diuretics and other drugs causing hypokalemia can enhance the risk of Terbutaline-induced hypokalemia. -Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or tricyclic antidepressants may potentiate cardiovascular effects. -Other cough suppressants may reduce the efficacy of Guaiphenesin.
