Chlormezanone

Chlormezanone

It is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. Chlormezanone acts predominantly within the spinal cord where it block polysynaptic relfexes. it combines well with an analgesic for use in painful conditions, in which muscle spasm is a factor.

Indications

Musculo-skeletal disorders.


Dosage

Adults: 100-200 mg thrice daily.Children: 5-12 yr: 50-100 mg thrice daily.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

In those who drive or operate machinery. Impaired liver or renal functions. Paediatrics: Reduce dose, if necessary. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Lactation: Safety not established. Elderly: Reduce dose according to response.


Side Effects

Drowsiness, weakness, nausea, dizziness. It combines well with various other anti-inflammatory & analgesic agents which is useful in treatment of inflammation-pain-spasm syndrome associated with Trauma, lumbago, inflammatory degenerative process. Neuritic vasomotor pain, fibrositis, myositis, osteo-arthritis and trauma involving muscles ligaments & tendons.


Drug Interactions

Additive effect with alcohol, CNS acting drugs.
