Clotrimazole betamethasone is a combination medication used to treat various skin conditions. Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent that targets fungal cell membranes, while betamethasone is a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching. This combination is particularly useful for treating skin infections that involve both inflammation and fungal infection.

Indications

-Fungal Skin Infections: Such as tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) that also involve inflammation and itching. -Other Skin Conditions: Where fungal infection and inflammation coexist.


Dosage

-Apply a thin layer to the affected area(s) of the skin twice a day. -Follow the prescribed treatment duration as directed by your healthcare provider. -Do not apply occlusive dressings unless instructed by your doctor.


Contra-Indications

-Known hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, betamethasone, or any other components of the medication. -Do not use on large areas of damaged skin or for prolonged periods. -Not recommended for facial, underarm, or groin applications without a doctor’s supervision.


Special Precautions

-Avoid Eye Contact: Keep the medication away from the eyes. -Long-Term Use: Extended use can lead to skin thinning and other corticosteroid side effects. -Systemic Absorption: Excessive application or use on large areas can increase the risk of systemic absorption and side effects. -Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use with caution and consult your healthcare provider.


Side Effects

-Local skin irritation, itching, or burning. -Thinning of the skin, stretch marks, or easy bruising (with prolonged use). -Rarely, systemic effects such as adrenal suppression.
