CRISABOROLE
Crisaborole is a topical ointment used for the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) in patients aged 2 years and older. It belongs to the class of medications known as phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE-4) inhibitors.Crisaborole is a boron-based phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor (PDE-4). It is a non-steroidal topical monotherapy that inhibits the phosphodiesterase (PDE)-4 enzyme in the skin.-Crisaborole is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in pediatric patients (2 years of age and older) and adults -Mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in adult and pediatric patients of the age group of more than 3 month
-For external use only. Apply a thin layer of crisaborole ointment, 2% to affected areas of the skin twice daily. Wash hands after application. -Ointment 2%, apply a layer over the site, twice a day.
-Crisaborole is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to crisaborole or any of the components in the formulation. -Hypersensitivity.
-Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. -Discontinue use if irritation or hypersensitivity occurs. -Not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use. -Use with caution in patients with pre-existing skin infections. -Paediatric: Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below 2 years of age have not been established. -Common side effects may include application site pain or pruritus. Rare but severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported. -Pain at the site of application, burning, stinging
No significant drug interactions have been reported. However, it is advisable to inform healthcare providers about all medications, including over-the-counter and herbal supplements.
