Indications

-Chronic urinary tract infections -Respiratory tract infections -Skin infections -Certain sexually transmitted infections -Rickettsial infections

Dosage

-Adults: Typically 600 to 1200 mg per day, divided into 2 to 4 doses. -Children: Dosage varies based on weight and the type of infection; consult a pediatrician for specific instructions.

Contra-Indications

-Allergy to tetracycline antibiotics -Pregnant women (due to risk of harm to the fetus) -Children under 8 years old (risk of dental staining and impaired bone growth)

Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease. -Avoid exposure to sunlight or UV light to prevent photosensitivity reactions. -Monitor for signs of superinfection, especially if used for prolonged periods.

Side Effects

Drug Interactions
