This medication is a combination of dextromethorphan, pseudoephedrine, ammonium chloride, bromhexine, and menthol. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant, pseudoephedrine is a decongestant, ammonium chloride helps to loosen mucus, bromhexine is an expectorant, and menthol provides a soothing effect.

Indications

This medication is indicated for the relief of cough associated with respiratory tract infections and nasal congestion.


Dosage

The recommended dosage for adults and children over 12 years old is 10 mL every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding 6 doses in 24 hours. Children under 12 years old should consult a healthcare professional for appropriate dosage.


Contra-Indications

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to any of its components. Patients with severe hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, glaucoma, prostate enlargement, or urinary retention should not use this medication without consulting a healthcare professional.


Special Precautions

Use with caution in patients with a history of drug abuse, asthma, liver or kidney disease, and in elderly patients. Avoid concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOI therapy.


Side Effects

Common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, headache, dry mouth, and nervousness. Seek medical attention if you experience severe dizziness, difficulty urinating, irregular heartbeat, or severe allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.


Drug Interactions

Avoid concurrent use with other cough and cold medications containing similar ingredients to prevent excessive intake of any one component. Caution is advised when using with other medications that may cause drowsiness or increase blood pressure.
