Diclofenac Potassium

Diclofenac Potassium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis, gout, sprains, and dental pain. It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation.

Indications

-Relief of mild to moderate pain -Treatment of acute migraines -Management of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis -Relief of symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis

Dosage

-Typical dosage: 50 mg to 100 mg orally two to three times daily -Dosage may vary depending on the condition being treated and individual response

Contra-Indications

-Allergy to NSAIDs or aspirin -History of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation -Severe heart failure -Third trimester of pregnancy

Special Precautions

-Use with caution in elderly patients -Monitor renal function in patients with renal impairment -Avoid in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease

Side Effects

-Common: Upset stomach, heartburn, dizziness -Serious: GI bleeding, kidney problems, cardiovascular events

Drug Interactions

-May interact with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and lithium -Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs
