Dienoestrol

It is a non-steroidal synthetic estrogen for topical use. Preparation is a white non-staining cream containing 0.01% w/w dienoestrol for intra-vaginal use only.

Indications

Atrophic vaginitis, kraurosis.

Dosage

1-2 applicatorsful per day for 1-2 weeks, then gradually reduce to one half initial dosage for a similar period. Maint.:1applicatorful, 1-3 times a week.

Contra-Indications

Known or suspected, cancer of the breast, estrogen dependent neoplasia, pregnancy. Undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding. Active thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic disorders.

Special Precautions

Fluid retention, epilepsy, migraine & cardiac or renal dysfunction. Metabolic bone diseases. Impaired liver functions. Histroy of mental depression. Diabetes, pre-existing uterine leukomyomata. Paediatrics: Should not be used. Pregnancy: Use with caution. Lactation: Safe. Elderly: Safe.

Side Effects

Burning, itching & irritation.

Drug Interactions

Rifampicin, Barbiturates and phenytoin increase its rate of metabolism.
