Ephidrine

Ephidrine is a medication used primarily as a bronchodilator and vasopressor. It helps relieve symptoms of asthma and other respiratory conditions by relaxing the muscles in the airways. Ephidrine is also used to raise blood pressure in hypotensive conditions.

Indications

-Asthma -Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) -Hypotension (as a vasopressor)


Dosage

-For Asthma: Typically, 25-50 mg orally, 3-4 times a day. -For COPD: 50 mg orally, 2-3 times a day. -For Hypotension: Dosage is adjusted based on patient response and condition; usually administered intravenously.


Contra-Indications

Patients with hypersensitivity to Ephidrine or any of its components. -Severe cardiovascular conditions (e.g., severe hypertension, tachycardia). -Hyperthyroidism. -Patients with narrow-angle glaucoma.


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, or hyperthyroidism. -Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly. -Avoid abrupt discontinuation.


Side Effects

-Common: Palpitations, dizziness, headache, insomnia. -Serious: Tachycardia, hypertension, arrhythmias.
