Etifoxine Hydrochloride is a non-benzodiazepine anxiolytic medication that enhances GABAergic neurotransmission by modulating the GABAA receptor. It is used primarily for its calming and anti-anxiety properties.

Indications

-Management of anxiety disorders -Treatment of psychosomatic disorders related to stress -Adjunct therapy in patients with anxiety symptoms


Dosage

-Adults: 50–150 mg per day, divided into 2–3 doses -The dose may vary based on the severity of symptoms and medical advice. -Not recommended for children under 18 years of age.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Etifoxine or its components -Severe hepatic or renal impairment -History of severe allergic reactions


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with a history of liver disorders. -Avoid operating heavy machinery or driving until the effect of the drug is known. -Should not be combined with alcohol. -Pregnancy and lactation: Use only if benefits outweigh risks (consult a healthcare professional).


Side Effects

-Common: Drowsiness, nausea, mild gastrointestinal disturbances -Rare: Allergic reactions (rash, pruritus), hepatic enzyme elevation, fatigue


Drug Interactions

-Potentiates the sedative effects of alcohol, benzodiazepines, or other CNS depressants. -May interact with certain hepatic enzyme-modulating drugs (consult a doctor).
