GOUT

GOUT is a medication used to treat and manage symptoms of gout, a form of arthritis characterized by severe pain, redness, and tenderness in joints. It works by reducing the levels of uric acid in the blood, preventing gout attacks and reducing inflammation.

Indications

GOUT is indicated for: -Treatment of acute gout attacks -Long-term management and prevention of recurrent gout flares -Management of hyperuricemia associated with gout


Dosage

-Initial dose: 50 mg orally once daily -Maintenance dose: 50 mg every other day


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to any component of the product -Severe renal impairment -Severe hepatic impairment -Active peptic ulcer disease


Special Precautions

-Monitor renal and hepatic function periodically during treatment -Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease -Avoid use in patients with severe gastrointestinal disorders -Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless necessary

Drug Interactions

-Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) -Increased risk of toxicity with other medications metabolized by the liver -Avoid concurrent use with other medications that may cause hyperuricemia
