Haematinic

Haematinic is a type of medication used to treat or prevent anemia by increasing the levels of hemoglobin or red blood cells in the body. It often contains iron, folic acid, or vitamin B12, essential for the production of red blood cells.

Indications

-Treatment of iron deficiency anemia -Prevention of iron deficiency in pregnant women -Management of anemia associated with chronic diseases


Dosage

-Adults: 1-2 tablets or capsules daily, or as prescribed by a healthcare provider. -Children: Dosage as per the healthcare provider’s recommendation, based on age and weight.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation -Hemochromatosis or iron overload disorders -Active peptic ulcer disease (in cases of iron-based haematinics)


Special Precautions

-Monitor for allergic reactions and gastrointestinal side effects. -Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders. -Regular blood tests may be required to monitor iron levels and overall health.


Side Effects
