Ibuprofen
All have similar pharmacodynamic properties but vary considerably in potency & to some extent in duration of action.Analgesic, antipyretic, dysmenorrhoea, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, musculo-skeletal disorders, soft tissue injuries, tooth extraction, post-partum and post operatively, acute gout
Ibuprofen 200-600 mg thrice daily or as required. Naproxen : 250 mg twice daily. Ketoprofen: 50 mg twice or thrice daily. Fenoprofen : 300-600 mg thrice daily. Flurbiprofen : 150-200 mg daily in divided doses. Max. 300 mg
Pregnancy, active peptic ulcer, G.I. bleeding, lactation
Asthma, bleeding disorders, cardiovascular disease&those receiving coumarin anticoagulants.Aspirin/anti-inflammatory induced allergy.
G.I. intolerance, rash, rarely jaundice, thrombocytopenia oedema
Aspirin displaces Ibuprofen from serum binding sites,reduces serum levels of flurbiprofen. Naproxen & Ketoprofen enhances effects of oral anticoagulants, phenytoin, methotrexate, sulphonamides, sulphonylurea hypoglycaemics & Probenecid increases their concentration
