IMEPRAMINE HCL
Imipramine HCL is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) used to treat major depressive disorder and certain anxiety disorders. It works by increasing the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain, which helps improve mood and emotional stability.-Major depressive disorder -Anxiety disorders -Enuresis (bedwetting) in children -Sometimes used for chronic pain and migraines
-Adults: Typically, the starting dose is 25 mg to 50 mg taken orally, 3-4 times a day. The dose may be gradually increased to a maximum of 300 mg per day depending on the patient's response and tolerance. -Children: For enuresis, the usual dose is 25 mg to 50 mg daily. The dose may be adjusted based on the child's weight and response.
-Hypersensitivity to imipramine or any other tricyclic antidepressants -Recent myocardial infarction -Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) -Patients with a history of bipolar disorder without adequate mood stabilization
-Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver dysfunction, or renal impairment. -May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts, especially in younger individuals. -Monitor for signs of serotonin syndrome if used in combination with other serotonergic drugs. -Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

-Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs): Risk of severe interactions, including serotonin syndrome. -CNS depressants: May enhance the effects of alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. -Antihypertensives: May reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive medications. -Anticoagulants: May affect the metabolism of warfarin and increase bleeding risk.
