Imiquimod
Imiquimod is an immune response modifier used topically to treat certain skin conditions. It works by stimulating the body's immune system to produce interferon, which helps fight the virus and abnormal skin growths.-Actinic keratosis on the face or scalp -Superficial basal cell carcinoma -External genital and perianal warts
-Actinic Keratosis: Apply to the affected area twice a week before bedtime, leave on the skin for approximately 8 hours, then wash off with soap and water. -Superficial Basal Cell Carcinoma: Apply to the affected area 5 times a week for 6 weeks before bedtime, leave on the skin for approximately 8 hours, then wash off with soap and water. -Genital Warts: Apply to the affected area 3 times a week before bedtime until the warts are gone, for a maximum of 16 weeks.
-Hypersensitivity to Imiquimod or any of the components of the formulation. -Patients with autoimmune conditions without doctor's supervision.
-Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and nostrils. -Not recommended for use on open wounds or untreated skin conditions. -Use caution in patients with autoimmune diseases. -Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
-Redness, swelling, itching, and burning at the application site -Flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, and fatigue -Headache -Back pain -Diarrhea
-There are no known significant drug interactions with topical Imiquimod. -Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications and supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
