Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride
Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria (hives). It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.-Allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) -Chronic idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives)
-Adults and children 12 years and older: 5 mg once daily in the evening. -Children 6 to 11 years: 2.5 mg once daily in the evening. -Children 2 to 5 years: 1.25 mg once daily in the evening.
-Hypersensitivity to Levocetirizine or any of its components. -Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 10 mL/min).
-Caution in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. -Avoid use in patients with hepatic impairment. -May cause drowsiness; caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery.
-Drowsiness -Headache -Dry mouth -Fatigue -Nausea
-Avoid concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressants. -May interact with other antihistamines or sedatives.
