LEVOSALBUTAMOL SULPHATE

Levosalbutamol Sulphate is a bronchodilator used to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe.

Indications

-Asthma: To prevent and relieve symptoms of asthma. -Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): To alleviate symptoms and improve breathing.


Dosage

-Adults: Typically, 1.25 mg to 2.5 mg of Levosalbutamol Sulphate administered via inhalation, usually 3 to 4 times a day. -Children: Dosage is adjusted based on age and weight; commonly 0.63 mg to 1.25 mg via inhalation, 3 to 4 times a day.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity: Allergy to Levosalbutamol Sulphate or any component of the formulation. -Severe cardiovascular disorders: Including severe hypertension and arrhythmias.


Special Precautions

-Cardiovascular Conditions: Use with caution in patients with heart disease or hypertension. -Diabetes Mellitus: May cause hyperglycemia; monitor blood sugar levels regularly. -Thyroid Disorders: Caution in patients with hyperthyroidism.


Side Effects

-Common: Tremors, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, and palpitations. -Less Common: Hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, and muscle cramps.


Drug Interactions

-Beta-Blockers: May reduce the effectiveness of Levosalbutamol. -Diuretics: Increased risk of hypokalemia when used with Levosalbutamol. -Other Bronchodilators: Increased risk of adverse effects.
