Mecobalamin
Mecobalamin is a form of vitamin B12 used in the treatment of neuropathies and certain types of anemia. It plays a crucial role in nerve function and the production of red blood cells.Peripheral neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, alcoholic neuropathy, drug induced neuropathy, dementia.
1,500mcg of Mecobalamin daily divided into three doses, for a period of minimum 2 month. The dosage may be adjusted depending on the patient's age and symptoms.
Mecobalamin should not be used in individuals with hypersensitivity to vitamin B12 or any of its components. It should be used with caution in individuals with a history of Leber's disease.
-Monitor for allergic reactions, especially in patients with a history of sensitivity to vitamin B12. -Use with caution in patients with renal impairment. -Regular monitoring of blood levels may be required to assess the efficacy and safety of the treatment.
Gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions included anorexia, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Rarely hypersensitivity reactions like rash may occur.
-Mecobalamin may interact with certain medications such as chloramphenicol, which can affect vitamin B12 absorption. -Consult with a healthcare provider before combining Mecobalamin with other medications or supplements.
