ORPHENADRINE
It is a centrally acting anti-cholinergic drug with muscle relaxant properties as well as an analgesic action.Traumas tension, head-ache,sports injuries,sprains & strains, low backache.Musculo-skeletal disorders.
50 mg three times daily. Max 400 mg daily increased gradually.
Narrow angle glaucoma. Myasthenia gravis. Tardive dyskinesia. Prostatic hypertrophy.
Renal or hepatic dysfunction. G.I. obstruction. Tachycardia, urinary retention. Paediatrics: Not usually prescribed. Pregnancy: Not to be used because safety is not established. Lactation: Use with caution. Elderly: Reduced dose may be necessary.
Dizziness, restlessness, dry mouth, nausea, blurred vision.
Anticholinergics, alcohol and other CNS depressants, MAOIs and antidepressants are potentiated. Antagonises steroids, barbiturates and phenyl-butazone. Lowers plasma chlorpromazine levels. Hampers absorption of other drugs. Synergistic effect with levodopa
