Oxethazine is an antihistamine used primarily to treat allergic reactions and symptoms related to various allergic conditions, including rhinitis and urticaria. It helps alleviate itching, sneezing, and runny nose by blocking histamine receptors.

Indications

-Allergic rhinitis -Urticaria (hives) -Allergic conjunctivitis -Pruritus (itching) associated with allergic reactions


Dosage

-Adults: 10-20 mg orally, 2-3 times a day. -Children: Dosage is usually adjusted based on age and weight. Consult a healthcare provider for specific dosing instructions.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to oxethazine or other antihistamines -Use in newborns or premature infants -Caution in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with a history of glaucoma or urinary retention. -Avoid alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. -Monitor for sedative effects, especially in the elderly.
