Ozagrel Hydrochloride

It has a powerful inhibitory action on thromboxane (TX) synthetase. The drug suppresses the production of thromboxane A2 (TXA2), which acts to aggravate airway.

Indications

Bronchial Asthma.


Dosage

400mg per day in two divided doses after breakfast and before bed time.

Hypersensitivity, Children


Special Precautions

Pregnancy, Lactation. Patient with haemorrhage. Unlike bronchodilators or steroids, it is not indicated for relieving attacks which have already occurred. During ozagrel therapy, if major attack of bronchial asthma occurs then administration of bronchodilators or steroids is necessary. Avoid its prolonged use.


Side Effects

Elevation of AST(SGOT)and ALT (SGPT) level, Gastric/abdominal discomfort, pruritus, rash, Nausea, Headache,fever, dizziness, sleepiness, malaise, numbness, leg pain, arthralgia, bleeding tendency, Thrombocytopenia.


Drug Interactions

Co administration with Ticlopidine, urokinase, heparin, and warfarin, bleeding tendency may be enhanced.
