Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride
Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride is a decongestant used to relieve nasal or sinus congestion. It works by shrinking the blood vessels in the nasal passages, which helps to reduce swelling and congestion.-Nasal congestion due to colds, allergies, or sinusitis -Sinus pressure and congestion -Relief of blocked nasal passages
-Adults and Children over 12 years: 60 mg every 4-6 hours, as needed. Do not exceed 240 mg per day. -Children 6-12 years: 30 mg every 4-6 hours, as needed. Do not exceed 120 mg per day. -Children under 6 years: Consult a healthcare provider.
-Known hypersensitivity to pseudoephedrine or other sympathomimetic amines -Severe hypertension -Severe coronary artery disease -Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuation
-Use with caution in patients with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, or prostatic hypertrophy. -Monitor blood pressure regularly. -Avoid use in patients with a history of drug abuse. -Use cautiously in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
-Common: Insomnia, dizziness, headache, nausea, and dry mouth. -Serious: Elevated blood pressure, palpitations, urinary retention, and severe allergic reactions (rare).
-MAO Inhibitors: May increase the risk of hypertensive crisis. -Antihypertensives: May reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive medications. -Other Decongestants: Increased risk of cardiovascular effects. -Caffeine: May enhance the stimulant effects.
