Silicone gel sheets are medical devices used primarily to improve the appearance of scars. They are soft, flexible, and can be easily applied to various parts of the body. These sheets work by providing a protective barrier over the scarred area, maintaining moisture, and supporting the healing process. It is a medical grade silicone gel reinforced by a silicone membrane. Gel sheet is soft, self adhesive and semi-occlusive.

Indications

-Treatment of hypertrophic and keloid scars -Prevention of scar formation after surgery or injury -Management of existing scars -Suitable for use on both old and new scars -Management of hypertrophic and keloid scars, prophylactically on closed wounds.


Dosage

-Apply the silicone gel sheet directly to the scarred area -Leave the sheet on for at least 12-24 hours a day -Replace the sheet every 2-3 weeks or according to manufacturer's instructions -Continue treatment for 2-6 months or until desired results are achieved


Contra-Indications

-Do not use on open or infected wounds -Avoid use if allergic to silicone -Not recommended for use on mucous membranes -Not for use on open wounds.


Special Precautions

-Clean and dry the scar area before application -Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning the silicone sheet -Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs -Consult a healthcare provider if there are any concerns or unexpected reactions


Side Effects

-Mild skin irritation -Redness -Itching -Rash (rare) -Maceration of skin -Pruritus.
