TINZAPARIN

It is low molecular weight heparin obtained by controlled enzymatic depolymerization of heparin.

Indications

acute symptomatic deep vein thrombosis with or without pulmonary embolism when administered in conjunction with warfarin sodium


Dosage

SC; 175 IU/kg of body weight, dosage varied


Contra-Indications

hypersensitivity, active bleeding, heparin induced thrombocytopenia


Special Precautions

Paediatric: Safety and efficacy in children not yet established Pregnancy: Category B Lactation: Caution to be exercised Elderly: Caution to be exercised


Side Effects

bleeding, thrombocytopenia, elevated AST, pain, hematoma


Drug Interactions

oral anticoagulants, platelet inhibitors (e.g., salicylates, dipyridamole, sulfinpyrazone, dextran, NSAIDs including ketorolac tromethamine, ticlopidine, and clopidogrel), and thrombolytics.
