Union Transport Minister launching DigiELV

Nitin Gadkari Unveils DigiELV to Reduce Pollution by 22-25%

Union Minister of Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently inaugurated DigiELV, an authorized End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Certificate of Deposit (CD) Trading platform, along with the Automotive Circularity Orchestrator. Gadkari highlighted the environmental advantages of these initiatives, aligning with the government's commitment to reducing pollution and promoting sustainable mobility.

During the launch, Gadkari emphasized the importance of the 3E concept – Ecology, Environment, and Economics. He underscored that widespread implementation of the scrapping policy could significantly benefit the economy while simultaneously reducing environmental pollution by approximately 20-25%.

Nitin Chitkara, CEO of Meta Materials Circular Markets, stressed the revolutionary impact of DigiELV and the Automotive Circularity Orchestrator on the automotive industry. These solutions aim to address the critical issue of automotive pollution by introducing standardized scrapping facilities for end-of-life vehicles. Consumers stand to benefit from receiving government-recognized certificates, which can be used to avail discounts on road tax and registration fees when purchasing a new vehicle.

The launch event was a response to India's commitment to decreasing greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector, which currently contributes to around 8% of the country's total emissions, exceeding 30% in Delhi. The 2021 Vehicle Scrappage Policy is seen as a crucial step in phasing out unfit vehicles and promoting technologically advanced alternatives to curb pollution.

DigiELV, operational in its beta phase for the past three months, has already facilitated the trade of over 800 certificates, directly benefiting end-of-life vehicle owners. This platform, authorized by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) , allows users to lawfully trade Certificates of Deposit, ensuring transparency and rewarding sustainable efforts by ELV owners.

The Automotive Circularity Orchestrator by MMCM (Meta Materials Circular Markets) addresses global environmental concerns by fostering collaboration among consumers, manufacturers, and recyclers. It facilitates seamless data and material exchanges for an integrated, sustainable future.

The launch event, organized by MMCM in collaboration with the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) and Policy Times Chamber of Commerce (PTCC), aimed to bring together key stakeholders for discussions on DigiELV, the End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Policy, Certificate of Deposits (CD), CD Trading, lawful ELV scrapping, material traceability, and carbon emission reduction through ELV waste disposal.

This initiative contributes to raising awareness about the Vehicle Modernization Program, Certificate of Deposit trading on DigiELV, and the role of the Auto Circularity Orchestrator in promoting environmental sustainability. MMCM also initiated an education series during the program to inform the public about the benefits of vehicle scrapping
