Exploring Telemedicine & Digital Health: Insights from the GSMST Workshop at IIT Kanpur

The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology (GSMST) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) recently convened a day-long workshop delving into the realm of "Telemedicine & Digital Health" at the Mehta Family Centre for Engineering in Medicine (MFCEM), IIT Kanpur. Bringing together luminaries from academia and the medical field, the event served as a platform for insightful discussions and knowledge exchange on the intricacies of Telemedicine.


Distinguished Visiting Professors at GSMST IIT Kanpur, including Prof. K. Ganapathy from Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation & Apollo Tele Health Services, Chennai; Prof. Jaideep Srivastava from the University of Minnesota, USA; and Prof. Saroj Kanta Mishra from Dr. RML Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, graced the occasion, enriching the discourse with their expertise.

Prof. S. Ganesh, the GSMST Taskforce Chair and a Professor in the department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering (BSBE) at IIT Kanpur, set the tone with an engaging welcome address, shedding light on the advancements and implications of telemedicine and digital health in today's healthcare landscape. Further insights were shared by Prof. K. Muralidhar from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, and Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay from the Department of BSBE, IIT Kanpur, who provided updates on various R&D projects undertaken by the eleven Centers of Excellence (CoEs) at GSMST.

The workshop facilitated dynamic discussions, lectures, and valuable networking opportunities, with participants actively engaging in thought-provoking dialogues and gaining insights from expert talks. Prof. Sandeep Verma, Professor-in-Charge at GSMST, delivered the concluding remarks, underscoring the school's pivotal role in fostering innovation within the Telemedicine & Digital Health sectors and providing a conducive environment for knowledge exchange.

The event served as a catalyst for collaboration and idea exchange among renowned scientists, clinicians, professors, and PhD students, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for learning and collaboration within Telemedicine. With a focus on the latest advancements, the workshop paved the way for collaborative research and innovation, driving transformative change in healthcare.
