Global Healthcare Collaboration: Bridging Borders for a Healthier Future

In the wake of the pandemic, healthcare has emerged as a focal point in reshaping the world. The inaugural session of HEAL-Thy Samvad recently convened healthcare experts, policymakers, and a representative from Nigeria, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to bolster global healthcare infrastructure. Highlighting the significance of cooperation between India and Nigeria, speakers emphasized shared cultural ties and the increasing preference of Nigerian citizens for medical services in India.


Mr. Abu Bakr, representing the Nigerian Student Association, shed light on Nigeria's rapid development and its status as an active member of the Global South, affirming the potential for further collaboration between the two nations. The session resonated with a unified message advocating for a holistic approach to healthcare, encapsulated in the concept of "One Health."

Dr. R.K. Srivastav, former Chairman of the Medical Council of India, emphasized the collective responsibility of various healthcare stakeholders in serving patients better, stressing the importance of advocacy in aligning different components of the healthcare system. Dr. Zoya Ali Rizvi from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, underscored the need for collaboration among stakeholders, NGOs, and UN organizations to ensure healthcare reaches all beneficiaries, especially in the context of initiatives like TB eradication by 2025.

Dr. Urvashi Prasad, Director at NITI Aayog, highlighted India's efforts in aligning local initiatives with global goals, emphasizing the role of technology and advocacy in healthcare. Dr. Rajiv Chhibber from Sahajanand Medical Technologies Ltd. echoed the vision of 'Vasudev Kutumbakam' (universal kinship) and stressed the importance of digital health and a holistic approach to healthcare.

The session saw participation from healthcare luminaries representing organizations such as FICCI and ASSOCHAM, further emphasizing the need for global collaboration in healthcare. Through initiatives like "One Health," strategic partnerships, and leveraging technology.
