India made robotic surgery system poised to take on the world leaders

Meril, an Indian firm, specialising in creating ground-breaking medical products, has introduced the MISSO robot for knee replacement procedures, marking an important turning point in the nation's medical technology sector. This novel approach is about to change orthopaedic surgery in India completely.

The company claims that the Indian-made MISSO knee replacement robot uses cutting-edge technology to help physicians execute knee surgery with unmatched accuracy. Therefore, the use of smaller incisions during surgery can shorten patient recovery times and improve results.

Noting that the number of people in India suffering from knee problems such as osteoarthritis has risen from about 23 million to 62 million during the past 20 to 25 years "Meril is pleased to bring MISSO, which has the potential to democratise robotic knee replacement surgery in India," said Meril Head of Marketing Manish Deshmukh. The aim is to make these intricate procedures more affordable and available in rural areas as well as big cities.

Using improved imaging and 3D modelling, the robot helps physicians plan and carry out operations with more accuracy. This makes knee implants more precisely placed, which can prolong their lives and enhance patients' post-operative mobility.

Experts claim that robotic surgery has various benefits, including smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain for the patients, and quicker recovery.

Experts say patients can go back to their regular lives faster and with less pain than with conventional surgical methods.

"This launch confirms our leadership in the joint replacement procedures and robotics market in India," Mr. Deshmukh said.

"We are also aggressively investigating the export potential of this advanced robotic system to help India lead in making robotic surgery accessible worldwide."

"This means MISSO could soon help patients not just in India but around the world," he said.

One major development in India's medical technology industry is the introduction of robotic surgery equipment made domestically. It shows how innovative and leading the nation can be in the surgical robot industry, ensuring improved patient care everywhere.
