Centre For Sight Expands Reach in Maharashtra with Strategic Collaboration with Laxmi Eye Hospital

Centre For Sight, one of India’s leading ophthalmology networks known for its state-of-the-art technology and trusted medical expertise, has announced a significant partnership with Laxmi Eye Hospital, a well-respected eye care provider with over three decades of experience. This collaboration marks an important step in Centre For Sight’s expansion, bringing the total number of its centers in Maharashtra to nine.

Currently, Centre For Sight operates across 82 centers in 40 cities within 15 states, treating over a million patients annually. With a team of 350 expert doctors and approximately 2,700 professional staff, the institution continues to grow as a key player in India’s eye care sector.

Laxmi Eye Hospital, founded in 1989, has built a strong reputation for high-quality care, having served over 2.5 million patients at its four locations in Panvel, Khargar, Dombivili, and Kamothe. Equipped with advanced technology, including FEMTO for bladeless cataract surgery, the hospital provides comprehensive eye care services. Under the leadership of Dr. Suhas Haldipurkar, a veteran ophthalmologist with over 40 years of experience, and supported by the next generation of specialists like Dr. Tanvi Haldipurkar and Dr. Devendra Venkatramani, the hospital has set a benchmark in patient care.

Speaking about the partnership, Dr. Suhas Haldipurkar, Medical Director at Laxmi Eye Hospital, stated, "We are proud to join hands with Centre For Sight, an institution that shares our dedication to clinical excellence. Together, we will continue to build on our legacy and provide patients with the best possible eye care."

Over the past year, Centre For Sight has expanded through strategic collaborations and the addition of 10 brownfield centers, including partnerships with Fazili Eyecare in Srinagar, I Max Eye Care Hospital in Sikar, Kakathiya Eye Hospital in Warangal, Drishti Eye Hospital in Badlapur, Rushabh Eye Hospital & Laser Centre in Chembur, and now, Laxmi Eye Hospital in Mumbai. Additionally, six greenfield centers have been launched in Bhiwani, Palwal, Jammu, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Gurugram, solidifying its presence in Northern India.

Centre For Sight plans to continue exploring collaboration opportunities, with a focus on expanding its footprint in Western India. The organization aims to add 15-20 centers annually, with a goal of reaching 150 centers in the next four years. This growth is part of its "Go Deep and Go Wide" strategy, designed to enhance its reach and provide top-tier eye care services across the country. The company is poised to invest INR 300-500 crore over the next few years to support these expansion efforts.

A recent strategic investment from private equity firm ChrysCapital has further fueled Centre For Sight’s growth. Raghav Ramdev, Managing Director of ChrysCapital, commented, “The healthcare sector in India is a key area of focus for ChrysCapital given the significantly underserved market and the potential for share gain for organized players.”

Prof. Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdev, Chairman and Medical Director at Centre For Sight, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating, "Our partnership with Laxmi Eye Hospital and other prominent centers in Mumbai underscores our commitment to delivering the highest standard of eye care. These collaborations not only strengthen our capacity to meet the region's increasing needs but also represent a broader trend in healthcare, where consolidation is key to extending the reach of world-class services."

This collaboration represents a key milestone for Centre For Sight as it continues to expand its services across India, aiming to deliver advanced ophthalmic care to underserved communities.
