Safdarjung Hospital Hosts Special Sale of Garments and Utility Items Crafted by Divyangjan to Promote Vocational Empowerment
In a commendable initiative aimed at fostering inclusion and empowerment, Safdarjung Hospital inaugurated a special sale of garments and utility items meticulously crafted by Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). The event, organized by the Vocational Guidance Section of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), showcases the talents of these individuals while providing them a platform for vocational and financial empowerment.
The inauguration ceremony, held today, was graced by Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), and Dr. Kapil Suri, Additional Medical Superintendent (AMS), alongside Dr. Ajay Gupta, Head of the PMR Department, and Dr. Suman Badhal, Faculty In-Charge of the Vocational Guidance Section.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Khanna lauded the dedication and skills of the participants, stating, “This initiative is a testament to the incredible potential of persons with disabilities. By creating and selling these items, they are not only contributing to their own livelihoods but also inspiring others with their hard work and determination. Safdarjung Hospital is proud to support their journey towards independence and self-sufficiency.”
Dr. Ajay Gupta highlighted the importance of vocational rehabilitation in the empowerment of persons with disabilities. “The Vocational Rehabilitation Section plays a pivotal role in enabling Divyangjan to achieve self-reliance. This sale is a reflection of their skills and capabilities, and we remain committed to providing continuous support to help them reach new heights.”
Dr. Vandana Talwar, Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, emphasized the institution’s role in the holistic development of individuals. “As a healthcare institution, our responsibility goes beyond medical care.
