Doctors Spread Awareness About Breast Cancer

Akums and Apollo Hospitals Collaborate to Raise Awareness During World Cancer Awareness Month

In a concerted effort to mark World Cancer Awareness Month, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited teamed up with Apollo Hospitals to conduct impactful awareness sessions focusing on breast cancer. The events, held on October 5th at Akums' Corporate Office in New Delhi and its subsidiary, Akumentis Healthcare Limited, in Mumbai, aimed to educate employees about the critical importance of early detection and preventive care.

The awareness sessions, which ran from 11 AM to 12 PM, featured notable experts in the field of oncology. In New Delhi, Dr. Parag Kumar, Senior Oncologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, led the discussion, while in Mumbai, Dr. Dipalee Borade, a specialist in Radiology and Oncology at Apollo Hospital, provided insights on breast cancer. Their presentations were followed by interactive discussions and a Q&A session, where employees had the opportunity to engage directly with the experts, ask questions, and clarify their doubts.

Approximately 200 employees at each location attended the sessions, highlighting their commitment to understanding the gravity of breast cancer and exploring ways to recognize its symptoms and adopt preventive measures. The engagement and enthusiasm of the participants demonstrated a collective effort to address this pressing health concern.

Fostering Awareness During ‘Pink October’

October, recognized as World Cancer Awareness Month, is often referred to as ‘Pink October’ due to its focus on breast cancer awareness. This initiative by Akums and Apollo Hospitals is timely, reinforcing the importance of raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting knowledge sharing in both corporate and public spheres.

Echoing similar sentiments, Shri Kanishk Jain, Executive Director of Akumentis Healthcare Limited, emphasized the importance of education and awareness in combating health challenges like breast cancer:

“In our society, it is essential to raise awareness about critical health issues like breast cancer. By educating people about the disease and its symptoms, we can significantly strengthen India’s fight against cancer. It’s about breaking the silence and fostering awareness.”

Collaboration and Support from Multiple Departments

The successful organization of these sessions was made possible through the collaboration of the Human Resource and Administration Departments of Akums and Akumentis, along with the Marketing Department of Apollo Hospitals. Their combined efforts ensured that the sessions were informative, engaging, and accessible to all participants.

Promoting Health and Well-Being at Akums
