Ayurveda's role in global healthcare resonates at the UK House of Commons.

Dr. Ravishankar Polisetty, the pioneer of Polyscientific Ayurveda (PSA), gave a detailed examination of Ayurveda's potential in global healthcare systems, marking a significant step toward combining traditional and modern medicine. Dr. Polisetty spoke at the prestigious UK India Leaders Conference 2024 on October 7, held by the Europe-India Centre for Business and Industry (EICBI) at the UK Parliament's House of Commons. He emphasized how PSA might address significant healthcare concerns across Europe, particularly in the UK.

Dr. Polisetty emphasized that combining Ayurveda with current scientific principles through PSA has the potential to address the mounting financial and operational demands on healthcare systems, particularly those dealing with an aging population. He emphasized the critical necessity for strategic alliances between India, the United Kingdom, and European countries to realize PSA's full potential. "India might increase its exports of Ayurvedic items to the UK, while the UK could benefit from developments in intellectual property. Dr. Polisetty added that this collaboration has the potential to lead to breakthroughs in geriatric care and end-of-life disease management.

He also emphasised that these collaborations might help the EU cut its rising healthcare expenses. Citing studies such as The Fiscal Cost of Ageing in Belgium, he underlined the significant financial burden of palliative care, which costs around €9,000 per person per day for a total of nearly €700 billion per year in the EU. By embracing PSA-based treatments, Europe might potentially reduce these enormous costs.

Dr. Polisetty's talk focused on Docture-PolyTM, a wearable gadget that provides customized healthcare solutions. He underscored that the integration of molecular biochemistry with traditional Ayurveda could potentially pave the way for further innovations such as Docture-PolyTM, thereby enhancing patient care and significantly reducing healthcare costs. "There is, of course, a link between modern molecular biochemistry and traditional medicine." Integration will benefit not just the development of innovative devices like Docture-PolyTM but also lower expenses, lessen illness load, and improve health outcomes in European nations, according to the speaker.

Dr. Polisetty made a convincing argument for how PSA may transform the UK National Health Service (NHS). He stated that the implementation of PSA-based solutions may save the NHS some £100 billion in healthcare expenditures and £256 billion in productivity losses each year. This bold declaration emphasized PSA's ability to alleviate the NHS's budgetary and operational issues by providing a comprehensive, yet scientifically informed, approach to healthcare.

Dr. Polisetty's speech received enthusiastic support from several significant figures. Lord Kulveer Singh Ranger, baron of Northwood, emphasized the significance of continuing the conversation with Dr. Polisetty. He highlighted that PSA may establish itself as a global leader in integrated healthcare services, saying, "Collaborations of this nature can significantly advance healthcare outcomes, particularly in terms of elderly care."

Other prominent personalities attended the event, including Lord Sahota, Virendra Sharma (former UK MP), and Lars Berg (former European Parliament member). These conversations at the UK India Leaders Conference are likely to spark new collaborations that combine traditional and modern healthcare methods, resulting in novel solutions for healthcare systems around the world.
