Aster DM Healthcare has unveiled the top 10 finalists for the third edition of the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award, a prestigious platform recognizing the contributions of nurses worldwide.

This year, the finalists were selected from a remarkable pool of over 78,000 nurses from more than 202 countries, following a rigorous review process conducted by Ernst & Young LLP, along with an Expert Jury and a Grand Jury. The award boasts the highest prize money for a global nursing award, with one nurse set to win the grand title award of INR 2 crores.

The top 10 finalists for 2024 include Archimedes Motari from Kugitimo Health Centre in Kenya, Johnsy Inni from Immanuel Lutheran Rural Hospital in Papua New Guinea, Laarni Conlu Florencio from New York Presbyterian in the USA, Lilian Nuwabaine from Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Manyangwa Best Medical Services Center in Uganda, Nelson Bautista from Tawam Hospital in the UAE, Nilima Pradeepkumar Rane, the President of the Nursing Association Goa state branch in India, Maria Victoria Juan, a consultant at Philippine Army Health Services, Martin Schiavenato from Gonzaga University in the USA, Hoi Shu Yin from Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore, and Sylvia May Hampton from Wound Care Consultants Ltd in England.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, remarked that each of these nurses has demonstrated exceptional dedication, going above and beyond their duties for the well-being of patients and communities. He emphasized that the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award aims to honor, celebrate, and reward the remarkable contributions of nurses, establishing them as role models in the field.

With over 9,000 nurses working across Aster DM Healthcare’s facilities in seven countries, the organization has witnessed firsthand the commitment and efforts of nurses. Dr. Moopen stated, “This is the least we can do to shine a spotlight on the work being done by the nursing community globally.”

The third edition of the award will not only grant the winner INR 2 crores but also recognize the other nine finalists with rewards. The final round will involve interviews with distinguished members of the grand jury, including Mr. Howard Catton, Chief Executive Officer of the International Council of Nurses in Switzerland; Prof. Sheila Tlou, Co-Chairperson of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition and former Minister of Health in Botswana; Prof. James Buchan, Adjunct Professor at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing; Dr. Peter Carter, an OBE awardee and former CEO of the Royal College of Nursing; and Dr. Niti Pall, Senior Digital Advisor for AXA (EC) and Board Chair of Harbr.

The final winner will be announced at a gala event in Bengaluru, India, scheduled for December 2024. Last year, Nurse Margaret Shepherd from the UK received the grand title award of INR 2 crores.
