Bry-Air Organizes 14th Biannual Eye Camp in Moga to Mark 60 Years of Service

Bry-Air, the flagship company of the Pahwa Group, celebrated its 60th anniversary by organizing the 14th Biannual Eye Camp at Mathra Das Civil Eye Hospital in Moga, Punjab. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the camp aimed to provide much-needed eye care to villagers, with a special emphasis on cataract treatment.

A total of 698 people from nearby villages, including Bughipura, Mehna, and Ghall Kalan, participated in the camp. Over 81 individuals were identified for cataract surgeries, while more than 1,000 free medicines and 300 spectacles were distributed. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjeev Saini, Chief Patron of Bhartiya Jagriti Munch, Moga. Distinguished guests such as Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, MLA Moga; Mrs. Indu Puri, a noted social worker; and Mr. Charanjeet Singh Channi, Mayor of Moga, also attended the camp.

The eye camps, held regularly by Bry-Air, honor the legacy of Rai Bahadur Dr. Mathra Das Pahwa, a renowned philanthropist and eye surgeon. Known as Netra-Dev (God of Eyes), Dr. Pahwa was celebrated for his groundbreaking achievements in cataract surgery, including conducting 750 operations in a single day. His contributions earned him accolades like the Padma Shri (1954) and multiple Kesari Hind medals.

Bry-Air has carried forward Dr. Pahwa’s mission by organizing over 124 eye camps, providing eye care to 43,079 individuals and performing 3,513 cataract surgeries to date. Additionally, they have distributed 34,336 free medicines and 39,531 spectacles, significantly improving vision for thousands across rural India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Akhtar, CSR Manager at Bry-Air, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “The eye camp reflects our commitment to improving the lives of villagers by providing free treatment for eye problems, particularly cataracts. With limited access to healthcare in rural areas, this initiative ensures better vision and enhanced quality of life for the underprivileged.”

This milestone event not only underscores Bry-Air’s dedication to social welfare but also stands as a tribute to the enduring vision of Rai Bahadur Dr. Mathra Das Pahwa.
