Five Medical Students Killed, Two Critically Injured in Kerala Road Accident
A heartbreaking incident occurred in Alappuzha district on Monday night, , where five first-year MBBS students from Bandanam Medical College tragically lost their lives. Additionally, two others sustained critical injuries in a collision involving a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus and their car. The incident took place around 9 PM, as reported by local media sources.
The students were in a Chevrolet Tavera when the vehicle was involved in a collision with the KSRTC bus while trying to overtake. Witnesses observed that the car first passed another vehicle before colliding with the bus. The aftermath of the crash was incredibly harsh, leaving the car utterly twisted and unrecognizable. Local authorities confirmed that emergency responders had to carefully cut through the wreckage to recover the bodies of the victims.
The students who have passed away have been identified as Mohammed, Muhasin, Ibrahim, Devanand, and Srideep. Three of them lost their lives immediately at the scene, while the other two passed away due to their injuries at a nearby hospital. The students who were injured are receiving care at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, and their condition is still serious.
The KSRTC bus, with four passengers on board, was making its way from Guruvayoor to Kayamkulam. The passengers and the driver experienced minor injuries but are currently reported to be in stable condition.
The police have announced that they are currently investigating to find out the precise cause of the accident. Preliminary observations indicate that careless driving and an unsuccessful attempt to overtake the vehicle may have contributed to the accident.
