Visakhapatnam Police, Apollo Hospitals Launch Life-Saving Ambulance Service Initiative
Apollo Hospitals and the Visakhapatnam City Police have collaborated to develop an improved ambulance service that prioritizes prompt emergency response and critical care. Sri Dr. Shanka Brata Bagchi, the Police Commissioner of Visakhapatnam City and Additional District Magistrate, introduced this project at Apollo Health City in Arilova. Apollo Hospitals' top executives, including Sri Ramchandra, COO, and Dr. Balakrishna, Medical Superintendent, also attended, demonstrating their dedication to improving public health and safety.
The new ambulance service addresses the growing concern about road accident fatalities caused by delayed medical assistance. This service operates in 18 important zones under police control, including Bheemunipatnam, Anandapuram, MVP Colony, Gajuwaka, and the Steel Plant region. It ensures quick medical attention for accident victims and prioritizes the "golden hour" to save lives.
In an accident, getting the person to the hospital quickly is crucial. At the launch event, Dr. Shanka Brata Bagchi stated that this promises not only the saving of valuable lives but also the patient's quick rehabilitation. "This ambulance, stationed here 24/7, will provide immediate medical help while we continue to work to reduce accidents. "A dedicated police officer will accompany the ambulance, respond to the toll-free number 1066, and coordinate prompt action to transport victims to the nearest trauma care centre," he added.
You can access the free service by dialling the toll-free number 1066. Upon contact, the nearest ambulance arrives at the accident site to administer first aid and crucial procedures like CPR. Apollo Hospitals in Arilova or Ram Nagar subsequently receive the victims for extensive trauma treatment.
Sri Ramchandra emphasized the necessity of prompt emergency care, saying, "This innovative effort bridges the gap between accidents and lifesaving medical attention." The 24/7 operating service guarantees no time loss, potentially saving countless lives.
Cutting-edge medical technology, including oxygen cylinders, defibrillators with cardiac monitoring systems, suction apparatus, ECG monitors, respiratory equipment, IV fluids, and an extensive supply of emergency medications, equips the ambulances. Moreover, certified medical personnel staff the ambulances, ensuring that patients receive quality treatment during transit.
This collaboration between Visakhapatnam City Police and Apollo Hospitals establishes a new standard for emergency medical services, providing hope and essential care to accident victims when every second counts.
