LG Orders Suspension of Former DGHS, Departmental Probe Underway
In a major development that has sparked discussions across Delhi's health administration, former Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Vatsala Aggarwal has been suspended with immediate effect. The order, issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department's Vigilance Branch, comes as disciplinary proceedings against the senior officer are under consideration.
According to the official order, the suspension has been approved by the Lieutenant Governor under provisions of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965. While the exact allegations against Dr Aggarwal have not been disclosed, the move has drawn significant attention within the health department and administrative circles.
During the suspension period, Dr Aggarwal will remain stationed in Delhi and cannot leave headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority. She will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per government rules, subject to prescribed conditions.
The action against a senior health official has triggered widespread interest within the department, with many now awaiting the outcome of the departmental inquiry. Officials say the investigation will determine the nature of the alleged irregularities and the course of further action.
As the probe moves forward, all eyes are on the findings of the inquiry, which could have significant implications for Delhi's health administration.
